In jail? need help fast...?

my husband never came home last night. i think he may have gotten into trouble and be in jail. we dont have collect calling features on our phone, so it would be impossable for him to call me. not only that, but my state requires that anybody accepting a collect call from county jails/inmates has to pay a $50 fee to accept the calls. it has to be paid over the phone w/ a credit card, so even if i called my phone company and had collect calling feature set up, i do not have a credit card to pay the $50 fee if he did try to call. is there any other way i can find out if he got arrested?? i dont want to just call the courthouse and ask, because if they tell me no they do not have him there, i dont want them to start looking for him if he is in trouble, and then have him end up being arrested anyways because of my call... can anybody help me plz??
