Is color enhancement dependent on the Dslr camera itself?

or does it depend on the lens that i will attach to it. i have a Canon Rebel Xsi camera and i want to enhance the color of the image. i am considering of buying a canon 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens, will this help or i should consider another lens to use for the color enhancement?
