Guys advise me please? Say you've just started dating a guy and you're waiting for him to contact you?

I've just met a nice guy 2 weeks ago and we've been out twice. I told him I'd like to be friends at first to get to know each other and then see. He's always been the one to contact me so that gives me confidence that he's attracted to me. Still, I'd love to hear from him every day but I don't. I also don't want to pester him so I don't text him, I wait until he gets in contact with me. What I'm wondering is, do guys hold back from contacting so much or is he not that into me?
